1st September 2007, GBS Group has taken over NFM Armour AS
NFM Armour AS which has over 80 years of history in re-building vehicles, has specialized in armoring for defense and cash & bullion transportation. The new name of the company is now NFM Armour AS. Together with NFM Armour 's high-skilled personell, GBS Group will now focus stronger into Defense, Police & rapid reaction forces.
 
 
2nd February 2006, New Managing Director in GBS Coating
Hans Arne Flåto will assume the position as managing director of GBS Coating from 01-05-2006 . Previously in the position as Marketing Director of Bandak AS's coating department, he have more than ten years of experience in the fields of coating and thermal spraying, and is one of the most sought-for lecturers in Norway in the field of HVOF-coating
 
 
25th March 2006, QA-audit from Aker Kværner
As one of GBS's main customers, Aker Kværner Subsea performed a QA-audit at GBS Coating on 22/3-2006 . During a part of the 1990s, GBS was a part of Kværner, and retains till today several machining- and coating-orders for their previous owner.
 
 
20th March 2006, Marine risers to Aker Kværner
In March 2006, Aker Kværner Subsea assigned GBS an order for marine risers for the production ship /Petro Fonaiven/, located outside the coast of Scotland. GBS was chosen based on the critical delivery time and the accuracy demands. The series of 15” flanged acid resistant pipes were produced, welded, fine-machined, pressure tested, approved and delivered within two weeks. GBS have of late specialised in urgent orders from the offshore industry, and have been organised to react to orders with a short time horizon and high intensity.
 
 
16th January 2006, Prototype for a noise reduction room for offshore installations is ready.
To accommodate the government's new demands for noise reduction offshore, GBS Safety & Environment have, in cooperation with GBS R&D, developed a prototype for a noise reduced and fire resistant room designed for petroleum installations.
 
 
15th September 2005, ISO certification
In August 2005, GBS were certified according to ISO 9001-2000 and 14001-2004. The certifying was conducted by Teknologisk Institutt (Norwegian Technological institute).
 
 
10th August 2005, New CNC turning lathes
To accommodate new demands for efficiency and accuracy, GBS has invested in two CNC-controlled lathes during the first half of 2005. The market for these services is growing, and the capacity for these machines was largely booked as the installation was completed in Porsgrunn.
 
 
8th June 2005, HVOF-equipment and robot in place
GBS has invested in new High Velocity Oxy-Fuel coating equipment. The supplier is Sulzer Metco, the worlds largest supplier of thermal spray
equipment. An additional investment was made in an IRB 4400 robot from ABB. These new investments, coupled with more than 20 years of experience, have placed GBS at the top of technology and quality of thermal spraying in the Nordic countries. GBS already supplies arc sprayed and flame-sprayed coatings, as well as two-component polymer/ceramic coatings and massive parts in Ceram.
